LA FOIP Foundations – mark your calendar!

December 8, 2020 - Ron Kruzeniski, Information and Privacy Commissioner

Mark your calendar for February 1, 2, 3, and 4, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm for LA FOIP Foundations: Access and Privacy Tips for Local Authorities – a long overdue learning experience. This webinar series, an hour and a half each day, is designed for local authorities.

Day 1 (February 1st) will be dedicated to a quick overview of LA FOIP. Targeted to those of you who are new to the freedom of information world, it is also a good refresher for those of you who have been working in this area for a while.

Day 2 (February 2nd) is designed for municipalities, cities, towns, villages and rural and northern municipalities. Featuring a panel made up of representatives from SARM, SUMA, the Ministry of Government Relations and the Ministry of Justice, you will learn about timely and relevant issues and pick up some tricks and tips to help you navigate the access and privacy world.

Day 3 (February 3rd) is set up for school divisions with a panel featuring representation from the Saskatchewan School Boards Association and the Prairie Spirit School Division. You will learn about access and privacy problems that school divisions are wrestling with and ideas on how to solve those problems.

Day 4 (February 4th) is focused on police forces. A panel will discuss current issues and provide suggestions on how to deal with those issues.

You are invited to register for the webinar. When you sign up, you can register for all four sessions or register only for those sessions where you have a greater interest. You might say, “I am not an educator or a police officer”, but I bet you would find these organizations encounter similar issues to you and you just might find out they have come up with novel ways of solving them. It might allow you to think outside the box and come up with some solutions for issues you are currently experiencing.

So take a late lunch, settle in behind your computer and join us for what we hope is a very interesting series of sessions.

There is no charge, but we will not be buying your lunch.
